Utabiri wa AI wa Armenian Cup

The Armenian Cup is Armenia’s premier knockout competition for men’s football. Open to clubs across the country, it uses a single-elimination format, so a single bad day can end a title bid. Each round is decided in a single match, with extra time and penalties if needed, and the final is a one-off showpiece that crowns the trophy and, when eligible, earns a European berth. The Cup sits alongside the league as Armenia’s national cup competition, offering a second route to glory and a chance for smaller teams to beat bigger clubs on neutral or home fields. The tournament follows the Armenian football calendar, with early rounds in autumn and the final typically in May, closing the season with a dramatic decider. Since its early iterations in the Soviet era and continuing after independence, the Armenian Cup has grown into a showcase of domestic talent and tactical variety. Notable clubs - Pyunik, Shirak, Alashkert, Urartu (formerly Banants), Gandzasar, and Ararat-Armenia - have lifted the trophy, producing memorable matches and standout players. Fans follow it for upsets, classic cup ties, late drama, and the chance for players to shine on a big stage. The Cup remains a beloved part of Armenian football’s history and ongoing growth.
